Travel | Exploring Vancouver with Ford

Happy Friday everyone! Last weekend I had the opportunity of doing a mini road trip through Vancouver with Ford Canada as part of their #GoFurther150 campaign. I was given the Ford Energi Fusion Hybrid and headed to one of Vancouver's most famous art installations - Douglas Coupland's Golden Tree.

Standing 43 feet tall, Coupland's sculpture is a full scale replica of an 800-year-old Tree in Stanley Park that has been a tourist meca for years. Unfortunately the real tree was badly damaged in a storm a few years back. The tree became famous because, as you can clearly see, it has a gigantic hollow middle. You can fit a car inside the hollow opening! It was definitely an experience to stand inside and take in the gravity of it.

Next up on our day adventure we headed to one of my favorite Vancouver coffee shops; Milano. (...Because really, what is a day trip without coffee?!) Milano now has locations throughout Canada, but it's roots are right here in Vancouver (woot woot!) In my opinion it is some of the best coffee you can get in the city! (And you may remember from this post what a coffee shop addict I am haha)

After grabbing some iced coffees and taking time to find some good tunes for our drive (the Ford Energi Fusion had an amazing sound system, I couldn't believe the quality even at loud volumes) we headed to Robson Street to do a little shopping.

Robson street is a must-stroll if you are in Vancouver. It is marked by BC Place Stadium at one end and Stanley Park at the other. It is considered Vancouver's best shopping (ie. a place after my own heart haha) I personally like Robson because it has a mix of big chain retailers, like Zara & Sephora, as well as local boutiques & pop-up shops.

After some shopping we headed to the Cactus Club Restaurant on Robson street. Cactus Club is a chain that was started on the West Coast and now has locations throughout Canada. They have a new signature drink this summer called the Frose Cocktail, so I knew I wanted to head there to try it. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! The meal we had was also delicious - I had a tuna club sandwich and truffle fries, and my friend Austin had the lettuce wraps. So good!

It was fun to spend a day playing 'tourist' in my own city. It's so easy to take for granted what is in your own backyard; so getting out to see the Golden Tree and do some Robson street shopping was a nice treat.

Thank you to Ford Canada for sponsoring today's post.

Thank you to Austin Mollins Photography for the photography. Be sure to check her out if you need photos in the Vancouver, BC area!

Oh and of course I couldn't leave you without the details on my outfit! The top is a lookalike for this summer's hugely popular JCrew top - but at less than half the price!!

Shopping | Wedding Guest Dresses

Finding a dress to attend a wedding as a guest is arguably one of the most difficult shopping endeavors the average woman goes through. I'd put it right up there with bathing suit shopping (yikes!) and the finding the elusive perfect fitting pair of jeans. Well, it just so happens that I am a self-proclaimed wedding guest dress expert lol! Why? In short, the year 2013.

In 2013 I attended 7 weddings in a 6 month period. You read that right; seven! Two were on opposite sides of the country; one of which required taking a float plane to get to, and the other a ferry boat. In short, 2013 was insane and I became very good at selecting dresses to wear as wedding guest!

Today as we ramp up into summer wedding season, I thought I would share my top picks for dresses that work for a guest at a summer wedding. I have linked them all up, broken down by category, below.

Last thing - because you don't always want to spend the money on a dress to wear as a guest at weddding, the last category is "rental dresses" from Rent the Runway. If you've never used this service before, it is a great way to get new dresses for one-time events.

Work Wear | Summer Pencil Skirt

I am swooning over this pencil skirt! I have added a number of colored pencil skirts to my wear to work wardrobe the past few years; but this is my first printed skirt. I wasn't sure whether a print could look work appropriate, so I was hesitant to pull the trigger and get one. I am so glad I got this skirt though as I love how many summer office outfits can be created with it

Paired with this white crochet top (which by the way is a very structured material, which I like for work) and you've got an easy summer work day look. I probably wouldn't actually wear my bright pink heels with it to the office, but I definitely would to run errands!

I completed this outfit with my Olive & Piper bracelets. You *know* my obsession with O&P. If you want to buy anything from them, remember that you can always use the code "LegalLee" for 20% off your order! I have a ton of O&P jewelry, but these two bracelets are definitely my favorites. They add just the right amount of sparkle without being "too much" for a 9 to 5 outfit.

In other news, I am working on content for the blog for the rest of the summer. It is a busy one (I've already got posts scheduled for the next month!) but I wanted to find out if there is anything specific YOU all want to see. If there's any fashion questions you want answered, or posts you'd like to see, email me or let me know in the comments below!

Work Wear | Printed Dress

Another day, another wear-to-work dress! I realize I have been sharing a lot of dresses lately on LLB; which is odd as someone who has a full blown addiction to these pants haha! But, summer weather definitely calls for dresses over pants to beat the heat while still looking work day appropriate. This printed sheath dress (c/o Boden) is a new favorite of mine for 9 to 5 style.

I love the unique neckline on this sheath dress, and the navy and pink print adds some fun to the otherwise classic silhouette. In general, I really like Boden as a source for work wear that is bright and fun. They are all about the bold prints and patterns. One thing to note if you are shopping from Boden is to double check whether you are on their US or UK website! If you are in Canada you actually place your orders via the UK site (no idea why) so make sure you take into account the size differences (and change the currency to CAD!)

My heels are old, but I found two nearly identical pairs that I linked up below. I love the scallop detailing - it makes a classic suede pump more fun. Plus, how perfect is the pale pink shade for summer?! Big fan.

I hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you! I am so excited to spend some time at the beach tomorrow. This girl needs a tan and some chill magazine reading time, asap.

Shopping | Canada Day Style

With less than two weeks until Canada Day, today I wanted to share some of my favorite Canada themed items that would be perfect to wear/use this Canada Day.
I'm so proud to be a Canadian and love any excuse to show a little Canada pride. My personal favorite of all of these items has to be the "150 years on the Eh team" mug. I am coffee mug obsessed (you may have seen this instagram photo) and this definitely seems like a must-add to my collection.

The shirts are definitely a close second though; who doesn't love an excuse to wear a Canada themed t-shirt!? Both of these shirts are also well made and affordable, so that's a huge bonus. Before I forget;  just a reminder that you can click on any of the items in the photo to be taken directly to the link!

What are your plans for Canada Day? I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing yet, but likely it will involve a backyard bbq at a friends house and then heading down to the beach to watch some fireworks. If you are hosting or attending any Canada Day party, the photo booth Canada props would be such an awesome addition to the party.

Happy almost Canada day! 150 years on the eh team, and oh-so-proud of it. :P

Work Wear | Casual Stripes

On instagram last week, I mentioned my love for comfortable work appropriate dresses; especially in the summer. I also mentioned that I find it so difficult to find dresses that are laid back (ie. not a structured sheath dress) but that are still work appropriate! I found one which I shared on instagram, and today I wanted to share this Old Navy one.

This comfortable striped dress is everything you need for a casual work day. The high neckline is great for work, and helps keep the look shorter hemline work appropriate. I really love this length because it is still office appropriate, but it's short enough to help beat the summer heat! This dress is under $40 (heck ya!) making it a great piece to just have in your closet this summer.

I paired the dress with my new laptop bag (I love the color blocking!), a plain black cardigan, and a pair of black suede heels. My heels are out of stock unfortunately; but I did link up a similar looking pair if you are on the hunt for this type of shoe!

Is your wear-to-work wardrobe feeling ready for summer? Are there items you want to add this year? Styles you have questions about wearing to work? Let me know in the comments below!

Weekend Wear | Palm Print

A little palm print for your Friday, anyone? I am obsessed with palm print (and lemon print) this summer and today I wanted to share with you this gorgeous palm print midi dress. I took these pictures when I was in Palm Springs last month (check out my travel post here if you missed it) and I honestly wore this palm print dress on repeat the whole trip! It is such a perfect, versatile dress for summer. I wore it to dinner, while sightseeing one day, and while doing some shopping.

Okay; on to these incredible sandals. Every summer no matter how many pairs of shoes/sandals I get, one always becomes my go-to. Last year it was these, and this summer I already know it will be these gorgeous Valentino lookalike sandals. They are great dupes for the Valentino version, at an affordable price tag. Also, they are incredibly comfortable which is such a great bonus.

The tassel earrings I am wearing here are unfortunately sold out, but I found a few similar pairs and included them in the widget below! I love the bright blue ones especially, and may need to add them to my jewelry collection as well.

I definitely plan on re-wearing this exact outfit a ton this summer. I have an outdoor bridal shower to go to next weekend and I think the palm dress may be the perfect choice for my outfit.

Shopping | Wednesday Wants

This week I am all about bright colors and summery vibes; so of course this week's "wants" had to match that. I love the combinations of navy & pink for work and palm print & yellow for the weekend. Also, I just have to say I have finally made the photos clickable, so in addition to scrolling the "Shop the Post" at the end, you can also just click on any item you like to be taken straight to the link for it!

The Work Look:

How great is this dress that looks like a separate skirt and blouse?! I am 100% adding this to my summer wear to work wardrobe. I love the billowing t-shirt sleeves and the lace hem at the bottom of the skirt. Such an easy outfit for a busy morning heading to the office! I want this pink Michael Kors bag, as it is a great item to brighten your office style for summer, and I love how well it pairs with this dress. Add in some light gold shoes and on-trend earrings and you've got a work day look that is trendy, professional, and perfect for summer.

The Weekend Look:

I love palm print and this maxi dress is just such a perfect 'throw on and go' summer piece. I love the off the shoulder top! Paired with yellow accessories (the brighter the better!) and this look is summer day ready! These gorgeous yellow shoes by the way come in 8 colors; and I definitely want a multiple pairs! Final thing I have to mention is the pineapple embroidered handbag. It is SUCH a good deal, for such a perfect little bag! I love that it is a structured shape - an interesting design choice paired with the more boho embroidery look. This is definitely one of my favorite bags I have seen this summer!
