Wednesday Wants

This week's work outfit is all about that gorgeous houndstooth cardigan. The coolest part is that the bottom zips off, so if you want to wear it as a short cardigan you can do so. I've paired it with my favorite skinny work pants - that I literally want in every color- and went with the bold pink suede pumps for a pop of color.

For this week's weekend look, I wanted to stick with camel & neutral tones. This tunic is the perfect cozy sweater, and I love the look of a bold monogram necklace worn on top of a knit sweater. Paired with those ridiculously awesome ankle boots and you've got a perfect fall/winter weekend outfit.

I hope you've all been having a great week and are gearing up for the holiday season. I can't wait to start binge watching Christmas movies, but, I've just started the Gilmore Girls season (amazing so far) so I need to finish that first. Lots of movie nights in my future haha.

Holiday Gift Guide: For the #GirlBoss Friend in Your Life

Marble Pencil Holder // Card Holder Key Chain with Tassel (perfect for holding a couple of business cards!) // "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg (every young woman needs to read this in my opinion!) // "Work Hard & Do Great Things" Hard Cover Journal

Another Monday means another Christmas gift guide! Today's gift guide, as you can see, is full of gift ideas for women in your life (a sister, a friend) who are working hard and building the life they want. All of these gift ideas are perfect for women who are busy working, or busy in university.

My personal favorite items have to be the glitter picture frame (I want one for my desk so badly!) and the key chain card holder. I am forever digging though my purse to find my wallet, then digging through my wallet in order to find my business cards. All while someone is impatiently waiting to receive it. Having a key chain that holds a couple of business cards would be perfect. The tassel detail makes it stylish as well - win-win!

In other news, there are some changes to the blog today! I spent the weekend doing a ton of blog stuff (you may have heard my talk about it on my instagram story). Most notably:

1. I have added a "currently craving" widget to the side bar on the right. You can easily scroll and click through to the items I most want right now. There are some GREAT ones up right now that are still on sale for Cyber Monday!

2. I added a page to the header entitled "Holiday Gift Guides". Here you can easily find a list of all the gift guides on LegalLee Blonde (I'll be updating it as I add more) and I've also got some widgets of other items that would be perfect for the women in your life. You'll see guides for the party girl friend, for the busy woman, for your mom, etc. Check it out!

Take Your Look from Office to Holiday Party

One of the requests I got asked on my Facebook page was for a post on what to wear to easily go from work to after-work Christmas party. I thought this was such a great request (thank you reader!) because it's something so many of us busy women deal with - transitioning from work to after work holiday event - without time to change.

In the photo above you can see my office outfit (on the left) and my holiday party outfit (on the right). Scroll through for photos of each look with my tips for what to wear to survive this crazy work day to Christmas party season.
The Work Look:

Wrap Dress c/o // Black Suede Heels // Handbag // Lipstick in "Anita"

The Party Look:

 Dress c/o // Similar Faux Leather Blazers: (1), (2) // Necklace // Wristlet // Similar Studded Shoes: (1), (2) // Lipstick in "F Bomb"

Tips to Easily Take Your Outfit from Office to Christmas Party:

1. Add a Statement Necklace
Wearing a basic black dress to work is great for those straight-to-party-mode nights since you can add a statement necklace to give instant holiday sparkle.

2. Add a Bold Blazer/Jacket
I love this faux leather blazer. Adding a bold jacket - think leather or a jacket with embelishments - quickly transforms your outfit

3. Change your Heels
An easy switcheroo of your shoes can update your outfit from office to christmas party. Go for a bold red shoe or, like I did here, a shoe with embelishments.

4. Switch Your Lipstick
Change your every day nude lipstick (this is THE best neutral lipstick- hands down) to a bold red for the party.

5. Switch your Handbag for a Clutch
Ideally, grab a sparkly or red clutch to really make your outfit feel festive.
6. Change from Opaque Tights to Bare Legs
Funny story - I had every intention of taking off my tights for the 'party look' but, as it turns out, there is really no non-awkward way to take off tights in the middle of a crowded public area while shooting outfit photos 😂😂
For those of you changing in, you know, proper offices or office washrooms, going bare legs for the party (or even adding sequin leggings?!?!) is a great way to change up your look.

Wednesday Wants

work day outfit idea burgundy dress

These two outfits are some of my favorite outfits in ages. I want every one of these fall/winter items asap! For this week's work look, I love the bell sleeve sheath dress. The bell sleeves are right on trend, but the classic sheath cut keeps the dress looking professional and perfect for any office / business environment. Nude shoes & a nude bag keep the focus of this outfit on the burgundy dress.

For this week's weekend look; three words: BEST. SWEATER. EVER. haha. You know those weekend's where you are so done with being a young professional? Where you've been in office outfits all week, your feet hurt from wearing heels, and you are sick of fitted clothes? That is the kind of week I'm having. As a working woman sometimes you just want to say "eff being an adult" and wear the comfiest, coziest, and cutest clothes you can find. The "I am freaking cold" graphic sweater is so cute, and perfect for a relaxing weekend. The rockstar skinny jeans are definitely the most comfortable jeans I've ever found, so they are my go to for feeling cozy.

In sticking with my "I'm done adult-ing" weekend style, I decided to add a pom pom sequin toque, and the cutest snowflake ring set. They feel youthful, but still wearable as a young professional relaxing on the weekend.

I hope you are all having a great week so far! Be sure to follow me on twitter & facebook if you, like me, are ready for the weekend already as I've been sharing some funny and motivational HOW IS IT ONLY WEDNESDAY things.

Holiday Gift Guide: 10 Best Gifts for Mom

Happy HOLIDAY SEASON EVERYBODY!! In case, you know, those all caps were too subtle, let me just tell you all that I am Christmas obsessed. The holidays are officially upon us and I am beyond excited.

This holiday season I am going to be doing a different gift guide every Monday - targeted at some of the specific people (or groups of people) that all you #GirlBoss LLB readers likely have to buy Christmas gifts for.

To kick it off- I am starting with one of the most important gift purchases I make every Christmas, the gift for my mom. Mother's can be tough to shop for, but also really, really fun. I love finding unique gifts that you know will truly make them smile. The above 10 gifts are the best of my internet digging for gifts this year. I think they are perfect gifts for moms.

If you want even more ideas, check out last year's Gift Guide for Mom! I've updated links and there are some great items on there that would be perfect mom gifts!

What to Wear to a Winter Daytime Event

 Similar Dresses: (1), (2) // Necklace & Earring Set // Similar Ankle Boots: (1), (2) // Handbag

Brunches, Baby Showers, High Teas ... these are events that seem to be so easy to dress for in the spring & summer. Fall/winter however? That's a whole different story.

The cold weather brings its challenges when it comes to dressing for day time events. Where you would normally wear a cute dress in the spring/summer, in the winter you have the added challenge of not wanting to freeze your butt off.

This is an outfit that I tend to wear again and again for daytime events in cold weather. I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago for a high tea (which by the way is definitely one of my favorite activities). The wine color is perfect for the fall and I like the heavier material. As far as tips for what to wear to a fall or winter daytime event there are some key things to remember. Check out my tips below:

What to Wear to a Fall/Winter Daytime Event:

 1) Fall Colors
Dresses in burgundy, navy and emerald fit better with a brunch or tea in the fall than the softer colors

2) Opaque Tights
The simplest way to make a daytime dress feel more fall/wintery is to add a pair of opaque black tights. Plus they keep your warmer (score!)

3) Ankle Boots
Trade out your heels for ankle boots for a winter event and your outfit will feel instantly more season appropriate

4) Add a Layer
While I didn't wear a layer in this outfit, I often add a knit infinity scarf or fur snood to my outfit. Clearly not something you want to wear while eating brunch, but it's great for commuting to-and-from your event.

Wednesday Wants

winter work outfit that is stylish

Plaid Pants // Glitter Pointed Flats // Striped Turtleneck // Crystal Statement Earrings // Kate Spade Square Faced Watch

what to wear with a burgundy suede jacket
Burgundy Suede Moto Jacket // Black Ankle Boots // Sunburst Pendant Necklace /Grey Tee with Gold Flecks (under $10 and so soft!)

This week's wants are all about texture and pattern. Fall is the perfect time to incorporate more pattern into your work wardrobe. Fall prints are easy to make look professional. I am absolutely head over heels in love with these plaid skinny pants. Paired with the striped turtleneck, you've got a chic pattern-mixed office appropriate outfit.

For this week's weekend look, the burgundy suede moto jacket is clearly the statement piece of the outfit. I opted for a dark grey tee that has some gold flecks to it, to compliment the burgundy jacket. The tee is great because it's versatile (perfect for any weekend outfit) but it's not plain because of the gold flecks. This pendant is gorgeous in person -if you look closely you'll notice the black in the centre is made of a faux leather. Such an interesting material for a necklace, and a really cool compliment to the faux suede jacket.

In other news, this week I am actually getting to slow down a bit at work and catch up on all the non-work things I have been meaning to do (boo yeah!) I finally entered the 21st century over the weekend and got Netflix (another boo yeah is so warranted here, haha). I have, therefore, been binge watching shows like crazy! I am re-watching Gilmore Girls right now and it's great! Any Netflix shows you guys think are must-sees? Let me know in the comments!
