October Favorites

wear to work fall outfits
Full Outfit Post       //      Full Outfit Post       //       Full Outfit Post

Clearly this October I had a thing for green - whether it was emerald or olive, I basically lived in green this month. The above three outfits are my top three favorites for the month. All of them are easy work outfits that have a classic, professional element, but still incorporate some fashion-forward elements. I think I'll be wearing all three of them to work over and over again in November as well haha.

Most of the above items are still available for purchase (woot, woot!) so be sure to click through to the original outfit posts, hyperlinked above, if you want more details on these office looks.

I arrived back in Vancouver last night. If you follow me on instagram you'll have seen that, unfortunately, I cancelled my trip to Aruba. My grandmother went in to the hospital the night I arrived back in Toronto and so I stayed to be there with my family.

My grandmother passed away on October 25th. Thank you to everyone who messaged me such kind words of support. If you'd like, you can read more about my grandma in this post I did last year. She was a major fashionista who lived an incredible love story - you need to read it with tissues in hand (consider yourself warned). She will be missed by many.

I will try to stick to my usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule, but as I had planned on a couple of Aruba posts, I may skip a post in the coming weeks as I sort out my blog schedule. Thanks in advance for your understanding!

Hello Ladies!  My name's Jenna, and I blog over at Sincerely Jenna Marie about my everyday outfits and activities.  I'm so excited to be covering for Lee while she gets her vacation on in Toronto and Aruba- just a little jelly ;)

I figured this outfit was a perfect 'introduction' look, since it incorporates all my favorite things (well except my little dog Sherlock and froyo): stripes, olive, leopard, Kendra Scott, and denim.  You'll pretty much find me wearing at least one of these things everyday, but I've decided they're best all mashed together.  I especially love the mix of stripes- mixing the same pattern in two different scales is my preferred method of print mixing.  It feels a little more modern, but it's still a playful approach to layers.

I wore this outfit to a ladies' plant night that I coordinated with some coworkers.  I brought plenty of appetizers and drinks, and we got our succulent and cactus planting on with the fabulous Laura of Lokey Designs.  It was so much fun and I'm quite excited my cactus is still thriving, despite my black thumb.  If you follow along on snapchat (roberts_jenna) I share updates on Herbert regularly.  Yes, my cactus is named Herbert :)

Wednesday Wants

boho dress and boots outfit idea

For this week's work outfit I wanted to go back to basics - classic colors and silhouettes. This tweed shift dress from Nordstrom perfectly fits the bill. I love the added touch of a jewelled collar. A merino wool cardigan is a perfect touch to add to a shift dress. Comfortable but still office appropriate. And you can't get much more classic than kitten heels!

For this week's weekend look I wanted something a bit boho. I found this baby doll dress and love the color/print. The baby doll cut is a unique touch (and perfect to hide a food baby if you're stuffing your face at brunch like I plan to do in this dress). The boho vibe of the dress pairs perfectly with tassel booties and a y-necklace. I also can't get enough of these open statetment rings. The turquoise is a cool contrast to the orange of the dress.

In other news: are you guys following me on Facebook & Twitter? You should! I've been posting some fun things this week. Click through to the hyperlinks to check em out and follow along!

Black & Blush

Short Sleeved Turtleneck // Blazer // Pants // Heels // Handbag // Necklace c/o (20% off with code LegalLee)

There is something so elegant about a turtleneck with a statement necklace. It's effortless work chic. I was channeling an Audrey Hepburn Funny Girl thing when I decided to pair the turtleneck with these pants. I love the look of a classic top with a statement pant. Audrey of course would have worn flats, but what can I say, nothing can tear me away from my pumps; NOTHING. #HeelsGirlForLife.

I love the color of this necklace - the blush hued crystals really makes the necklace stand out from other styles that are currently available. Leave it to Olive & Piper to always have the latest and greatest looks. I love their jewelry. You can get not only this blush collar necklace but anything from their website for 20% with my coupon code - LegalLee. Happy shopping!!

In other news, I fly out to Aruba tomorrow and cannot wait!! I am definitely ready for some sun, strawberry daiquiris, and a ton of reading on the beach. I won't be posting this Monday, but be sure to come back to the blog on Wednesday for a post and on Friday for an exciting guest poster. Trust me, you won't want to miss her outfit!

I'll be sharing some updates from my trip on instagram & twitter while I'm away, so be sure to follow along!

blush and black office outfit idea
frayed hem jeans and burgundy cardigan outfit idea
Burgundy Cardigan // Cross Strap T-Shirt // Frayed Hem Jeans // Ankle Boots // X Ring (20% off with code LegalLee) // Pearl Crown Ring (20% off with code LegalLee)

I am swooning, actually swooning, over this blush & black work dress haha. I love finding dresses that are professional but still have a feminine quality. The fact that there is a matching blush colored blazer makes it the perfect office look. Also, how great are the suede lace up heels? I am so glad that chunky heels are on trend again, because man oh man they are so much more comfortable!

For this week's weekend look I wanted something comfortable (..what else is new haha). I love the cross strap top and with the burgundy cardigan it is perfect for fall. I've been wanting new fall booties as I only have one pair. I love the studded details on these Sole Society ones. And; as always, I want every piece of jewelry Olive & Piper has haha. These rings are perfect statement rings, and such a great deal with the 20% off code!

Today is my first full day back in my parents small town and it is weird, and great, and did I mention weird to be back. Fun fact: we still don't have high speed internet so I am currently heading to my best friend's hair salon on the main street, where there is actually internet that does not make me want to pull my hair out haha. Wish me luck!

Put a Bow On It

lace up blouse and pencil skirt look
best handbag for lawyers tory burch robinson
black and croc pattern heels
Zaful Olive Bow blouse
Blouse c/o // Pencil Skirt // Heels c/o // Handbag
// Lipstick in "Anita" (the BEST nude lipstick!)

I have the hardest time finding pencil skirts I like. Something about the shape just never works for my body type. So, when I found this exposed zipper skirt I fell head-over-heels in love. The zipper allows you to make the slit as high or as low as you like which, I found, helps me make it sit better on my body. Win! Ps. I got this skirt using Ebates. You NEED to be using this program if you aren't! You click through to your favorite stores websites via the Ebates site and then you get cash back on all your purchases. No catches, they just mail you a cheque with your cash back. I use it every time I shop online and love it!

I also really like this olive bow blouse. Lace up tops are everywhere this season, but this is the first time I have found one that is work appropriate. It's a great compliment to the pencil skirt and the black and crocodile print heels! A perfect work day look!

In other news, I am heading out on vacation tomorrow afternoon for a week and a half. I'm off to Toronto to visit friends and then heading to Aruba with my mother for a week. I am very much looking forward to it, though I *may* have gone a bit overboard on my book shopping... (see my instagram story for more haha)

Olive & Leopard

Similar Blazer // Top c/o // Pants (on sale!!) // Similar Heels here, and boot version here // Similar Clutch

I've been wearing olive green a lot lately. It's an easy color to add to work wear to move away from black & white, without making too much of a statement. Perfect for a classic work look. Pops of leopard and gold add just enough drama to make the look stylish.

In case you missed my first post with these pants (here), trust me these are *the* pants you need if you work in an office. The perfect work day pant. The best part is they are now on sale for under $70! Score!

Having been under the weather lately I have been on a major Gilmore Girls bender. I started with the first season a couple weeks ago and am already mid-season three haha. I am so excited for the new season to be released in a couple of weeks. Are any of you guys huge Gilmore Girls fans too? I had such a blast going to the Luke's Diner pop up last week (you may have seen the pics/video in my instastories!)

Wednesday Wants

office outfit idea green dress with gold accents

Fall Fashion Trends Outfit IDea

Isn't that green dress gorgeous?! I love that the cut and length are completely work appropriate, but the hint of lace adds some fun to the silhouette. It's a dress that can be worn with ankle booties for rainy fall days (fall here in the pacific northwest = endless rain lol), or pumps for a classic work look. I also like that this office outfit can easily transition into after-work drinks by simply adding a leather jacket and some great heels.

This week's weekend "want" outfit is extremely laid back. I like that the 70s style shirt has only slightly "belled" sleeves and that the lace up is not too low cut. I have aslo been wanting frayed hem skinny jeans for months and I think with these ones I have finally found the perfect pair!

If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen in my stories that I had a big 5 day trial that was supposed to start yesterday, but it ended up resolving. That means that I now have today - Friday off work! I am so excited to actually get done the millions of things I have been putting off as I prepared for the trial. My laundry pile has reached astronomical heights, my nails are in need of a polish, and I cannot wait to clean my apartment (...words I never thought I would say haha).

Since I've got this unexpected work break, I also hope to get into the fall spirit this week and
actually do some fall things; like baking a pumpkin pie! Any suggestions for fall recipes I should try or fall activities I should do this week?! Also you KNOW I love me some TV dramas, so if you have any suggestions for shows I can watch in the background while I cook & clean, I would love to hear em!

I wanted to share with you all my take on a classic work look. For me, classic means trouser fit pants, a white blouse, and a functional work bag. All of which this outfit has!

I love the lace detailing on this top as it adds a touch of style to the classic office outfit. Also, you guys, i FINALLY caved and got this handbag that I have been eyeing for over a year. It is the perfect lawyer bag - it fits legal size paper (such a win) and has a zipper laptop compartment. This handbag is my new love haha. Finally, to keep the classic outfit fresh, I added rose gold accents, via my shoes & my jewelry.

How gorgeous are these Olive & Piper earrings?! I received them a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the perfect outfit to let these shine. The rose gold color is perfect for fall and the sleek shape has a very modern-chic feel that is great to pair with office outfits. I have actually had multiple court clerks ask me as soon as we have gone off-record in Court where my beautiful jewelry is from - and my answer is always Olive & Piper. Their jewelry sparkles like no other and is high quality.

And the best news? I have a reader discount for you guys!! You get 20% off your purchase at Olive & Piper with the code LegalLee (entered at check out). If you're curious my personal favorite O&P items right now are these & this. Let me know what O&P items you like and what you buy!! I love seeing how readers style items!

Wednesday Wants

black dress and burgundy accessories
Cold Shoulder black dress and accessories
Dress // Over the Knee Boots // "Wine & Dine" Watch // Blanket Scarf // Handbag

Happy Wednesday guys. This week I am (clearly) loving black & wine. Shades of wine/burgundy are perfect for both the office and fun weekend wear this fall. I am especially loving the ruffle-sleeve dress in the top photo. It's a look-a-like of this JCrew dress which everyone has been swooning over this season, but this version is under $100!! This is definitely a "buy right now before it sells out" dress.

I went with a black dress for this week's weekend look as well - but something edgier & more weekend appropriate. I love the cold shoulder trend, but added in a blanket scarf that can keep your shoulders warm if the fall day gets chilly. Also, how great is that watch?! If you can't see it it says "wine and dine" in addition to having a little wine glass on the face. I definitely want this watch!

A Different Era

Green Dress for Work Day
Dress c/o // Shoes (found at Winners) Similar: here & need THIS boot version // Handbag // Lipstick in "Shanghai Express" (the BEST red!)

The moment I saw this Rosegal dress I knew I wanted to style it for work. Something about the 1920's style just seemed too perfect for a day in the office. While I had heard of Rosegal before, this was my first time actually trying out their clothes. The color of this dress is gorgeous & I was pleased with the fit. My one complaint is that the buttons are cheap quality. That said, for the price of the dress I was definitely pleased (and can change the buttons myself without too much effort/cost i think).

I've got a couple other items from Rosegal that I quite like, and I'll be showing them on the blog in the coming weeks! In the meantime, be sure to check them out and let me know your thoughts.

To compliment the 20's era office dress, I wanted to stick with low block heels. I recently picked these gold accent heels up at Winners and knew they would go perfectly with this dress. The style reminds me of my grandma - but with a fashionable twist. The fact that they are actually comfortable is just an added bonus haha.

Purse wise, I decided to go with my Forever 21 crossbody which I love because it is a total look-a-like of this Chloe crossbody that has been all the rage this year. This is definitely one of my favorite handbags.

I had a really low-key weekend, I've been a bit under the weather, so I am hoping this work week takes it easy on me! I'm planning on getting up extra early this whole week to try to get an hour of work done before Court every morning. I think it will make a huge difference to my stress load during the day, so I am excited to try it out. I am however armed with a stupid amount of coffee in my cupboard just to be on the safe side haha.

thank you to Rosegal for sponsoring this post. As always, all content & reviews are my own
