fashion blogger outfit roundup summer outfits

Outfit 1: Here // Outfit 2: Here // Outfit 3: Here

Happy August! July just flew by (... though I'm pretty sure I say that about every month haha). I can't believe we are already in August! The three outfits above are my favorite wear-to-work outfits that I showcased on the blog in the month of July.

I also thought I would show you my favorite casual outfits from July (I post those on my instagram). I've also linked up the items (or similar ones) in each of the instagram photos below. Be sure to follow me on instagram if you want to see more casual looks (I post those more frequently on instagram than on the blog).

I'd love to know which looks are your favorite! Let me know in the comments below.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - OFFICE WEAR

Eliza J Trench Coat // Trina Turk Raincoat // CeCe Tweed Jacket & Skirt (my personal favorite items!)

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is going strong, and while I know every blogger under the sun shares their favorites (...see why that is by the way in my post here) i decided to share mine as well - because I hope to provide you with something you don't get from other blogs. I have rounded-up only my wear-to-work favorites from the #NSale.

I haven't seen any other collages or round-ups of items that are specifically for working women, so hopefully you enjoy my picks! I have ordered the CeCe tweed suit myself and can't wait for it to arrive, and of course to share it with you all!

Reminder: Use EBates!! If you have been following LLB for a while you probably recall me telling you about EBates - an incredible program that gets you cash back on your purchases. It is free to sign up and you simply go to the store you want to shop at via the EBates website (in this case, Nordstrom!) and you get CASH BACK on all of your purchases! The current rate for Nordstrom is 6% cash back! I received, therefore, a good chunk of cash back on my purchase and I want you to do so as well! Sign up for EBates here if you haven't already!

Now, I've got a crazy hectic court day ahead of me, so I better get to work. Have a great day everyone and let me know what you think of my NSale picks!

90's Girl Boss

how to style the nineties trend for work
look alike celine sunglasses
velvet choker necklacesammy dress black heelshow to wear jogger pants for work
Similar Shirt here & here // Pants // Shoes c/o // Necklace c/o // Sunglasses- the designer version & dupes

Ever since 90s fashion came back as a trend earlier this year, I've dabbled with the idea of incorporating styles - like the choker necklace - into a work day look. So, with this outfit, I finally pulled the trigger on that idea - and I love the result! I felt like a complete boss circa 1994 in this outfit - think Sarah Michelle Gellar at a press conference haha.

The choker necklace is obviously the central piece of this look (it's so fun!) but I also wanted to keep the 90s vibe alive by sticking with flowy materials and fabrics - a 90s staple. Pairing this loose shirt with these work day track pants definitely gave me the look I wanted.

I added in my favorite Chloe dupe sunglasses and some killer statement heels just to feel extra tough. Something about killer shoes & sunnies just makes me feel more confident!

What do you guys think of this look?! Did I succeed in making the 90s trend work appropriate? Would you wear 90s style to work? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Have a great work day everyone.

Dress - Also similar: here // Hat c/o // Heels // Bracelet // Lipstick

I wore this outfit this past weekend for the Deighton Cup - an annual horse racing event here in Vancouver. I was really excited to finally have an opportunity to wear this Kate Spade dress I got a few months back. The mint color is even prettier in person! I think it would be a perfect dress for a fancy brunch or bridal shower.

I decided to add this gorgeous hat by MARIA CURCIC MILLINERY to the outfit because, honestly, how many occasions do you have to get dress up and wear a hat!? I loved getting to wear it! One thing that is really cool about MARIA CURCIC MILLINERY is that they have a hat rental program so that (if you are local) you can rent hats for events instead of buying. Such a great way to accessorize for a fancy event without a commitment.

This week has been a whirlwind so far! Monday & Tuesday I was on vacation with my best friend and goddaughters (follow my twitter to see some hilarious fashion related tweets courtesy of my 7 year old god daughter!! haha) and so Wednesday & Thursday were nuts at work. Today should be equally crazy, but, at least it's a Friday! Plus we are FINALLY getting some sunshine & summer weather here in Vancouver!

Wednesday Wants: Pastels

Blue Off the Shoulder Dress // Yellow Mini Dress // Pink Flutter Sleeve Dress

Pastel colors are usually popular in the spring, with bolder colors taking centre stage in the summer. This summer though, pastel colors have been making a huge impact in the fashion world. Pastels are right on trend in the breeziest, most summer-ready clothes & accessories.

My favorite of these pieces is most definitely the off the shoulder blue wrap dress. What a gorgeous item! I love dresses in the summer as I always think of them as 'outfits in one'. It's the lazy girl's tool for being fashionable without having to put in a lot of effort!

If you follow along on instagram and twitter you'll know that I took a 4 day weekend this past weekend to head up to Kelowna for a mini-vacation. Today is therefore my first day back for this work week! Starting on a Wednesday definitely feels odd, but I am determined to get a ton done today after having such a relaxing and fun couple of days. Hope you all have a great day ahead of you!

Where to Shop to Build Your Work Day Wardrobe

best stores for womens work wear

original photo c/o pink pot

Finding clothes to wear to work that don't cost an arm and a leg can be a daunting task. Below is a round-up of the places I think are best for office wear. I've also picked out some favorite currently available items (so many beautiful pencil skirts!) from each of these stores. Enjoy!

Nordstrom:

Pro:
SO many options. Nordstrom is the mecca for wear to work shopping. My personal favorite brands for office wear are Halogen & Anne Klein (both extremely affordable). I also love Theory (though their clothes are much more expensive).

Con: They have far more online than in store. This means a lot of shopping without trying on. If you are in America though, they have a free shipping & returns policy so buy a ton and just return what doesn't fit! Shipping is $10 to Canada.

Some great options:

Club Monaco:

Pro: Feminine work wear styles. High quality material.

Con: Expensive. I find that shopping their sale section online is that best way to get affordable items.

Some great options:

J Crew:

Pro: Timeless, Classic items. You can wear J Crew pieces season after season and still be fashionable.

Con: Expensive. Styles don't fit all body types (I hear many women complain that J Crew just doesn't fit them right. Try some items on and see how they feel for you).

Some great pieces:

J Crew Factory:

Pro: Affordable, classic pieces. Also- lots of "mix and match" items with different cuts of pants, skirts & blazers all in the same fabric/color.

Con: Lower quality material. I find the stitching is more likely to come undone, hemlines are more likely to fall, etc.

My favorite items right now:

Express:

Pro: Extremely affordable. "Trendy" items.

Con: Not much selection. Very fast turn around in products (ie. if you like it, buy it. It may not be there next week!)

My favorites:

White House Black Market:

Pro:
Affordable. Very stylish.

Con: Some of their "work wear" items are not the most work appropriate - sometimes they make v-necks that are a little low, slits that are a little high, etc.

My top picks:

Ann Taylor:

Pro:
Quality materials. They are also really quite good with returns and exchanges.

Con: Limited number of pieces each collection/season (only really a con if you're planning on doing a large haul of work wear)

Some of my favorites:

How to Shop the Nordstrom Sale if you are in Canada

~ My favorite purchases from last year's #Nsale~
~ See the full posts of the above outfits here, here & here~

For anyone that doesn't know, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts Early Access tomorrow! So, I thought I would give you guys a post on shopping the sale. Here goes:

What is it?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (aka. the #NSale) is an annual sale in which Nordstrom releases new fall merchandise at ridiculously discounted prices. This is different than any other sale out there, because these are not last season's items. These are brand new items from some of the biggest designers (think Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Sam Edelman) that are on sale for a few weeks only before going back up to regular retail prices. This sale is thus the BEST way to do your fall shopping!

When Does it Start?
The #Nsale starts early access tomorrow- July 14, 2016. The sale then opens to the general public on July 22 and runs until August 8th; with prices going back up to regular retail at that time.

What is "Early Access" & Can I Shop it?
Early Access runs from the 14th - 21st. To shop early access you have to be a Nordstrom cardholder. They have a credit card (obviously) but also a debit card - which operates exactly like your regular debit card, withdrawing from your bank account. Unfortunately, you cannot get a Nordstrom card (either one) without a U.S. billing address. I called and spoke with customer service at Nordstrom on the weekend to figure out if there was any way Canadians could shop early access. Long story short? no.

What do I do then if I am Canadian?
If you are Canadian and are stuck waiting until July 22nd to shop the #NSale here are my tips to ensure you still get the items you want:

1) Review the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Catalog
The catalog is out now and lists a number of items that I am sure will be hugely popular. Go through this now and make a list of the items you want. That way you can search for them and add them to your cart right away on July 22nd.

2) Check your Favorite (American) Fashion Blogs
So many bloggers are obsessed with this sale, that chances are good your favorites will do at least one post on their picks from the sale throughout the early access period. This is another great way for you to see some of the items you may want to get come July 22nd.

3) Prioritize your Items

I know this sounds ridiculous, but items in this sale go FAST. The most popular items (last year that seemed to be the most gorgeous Tory Burch Cross Body) often sell out on the first day. So, once you know some items you already love (from the catalog & your fashion blog research) go and purchase those right away! You can shop the rest of the sale to see if there are other items you want after you have done that.

4) Don't forget the Canadian Dollar!
Once you are on the Nordstrom website you can go under the shipping tab and change your preferences to see the prices in Canadian dollars. This will help you make sure you stay on budget! Also, keep in mind that that shipping to Canada costs $9.95 (as a flat fee).

I hope you found this post helpful and I hope you get all the items you want! I'd love to hear about your wants/purchases - keep me posted via comments (here or on later blog posts!) ! I'll be doing another post in a few weeks with my favorite "wear-to-work" items from the sale - stay tuned for that!

Polka Dot Top

ruffle sleeve polka dot top
office approrpriate polka dot outfit
polka dot blouse for work

 Top c/o // Pants // Heels c/o - I also love the flats version // Similar Handbags: (1), (2), (3)

This polka dot top adds so much fun to my work wardrobe. I love that the modest cut and the flutter sleeves. Pairing it with navy and grey seemed to be the perfect way to style it for a day at the office.

I'm not comfortable wearing open-toed shoes to work, especially when most days I am in court, but I found that these sling backs felt both work appropriate but also more summery than traditional closed-toe pumps. I think closed-toe slingbacks will be something I reach for a lot this summer!

I had a relaxing, low-key weekend (it was rainy *again* here in Vancouver) so I feel pretty ready for the work week ahead. I hope you all are ready for the day - I am sending some kick-ass, you-got-this, let's-do-this vibes your way!

Perfectly Patterned

Grey "Suit" Set c/o // Similar Handbags (1), (2) // Heels // Pearl Ring // Nail Polish

I absolutely adore this coordinated set! It's an interesting summer take on a suit for work. I feel like the outfit is professional (the coordinated pieces help a lot, as does the looser fit of the top). I also like the metal snaps down the sides of the shirt - such a unique touch

I wanted to keep my accessories to blush & neutral tones to compliment the grey of this outfit. You may recognize these shoes (*cough* I wear them all the time *cough*) as I feel they are a great statement shoe that somehow works with everything. I most recently wore them here - in another summer work day outfit I can't get enough of.

Would you wear a coordinated set like this to work? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
